Typographic Music Posters l Typography and Design System
Create a series of posters that reflect an understanding of typography and a developed visual system. These artists thought outside of the box to create new tunes and experiences for the audience.
Concept: All three of these musicians impacted the world whether it was music or breaking societal standards. These three artists share the common factor of influencing showbiz through shattering the normal music blockades. The Rolling Stones created new influential lyrics which inspired their fans to think differently. The Beatles used new instruments to create blues and psychedelic rock sound that had never been heard before. Queen influenced the fashion industry and made people feel comfortable in their own bodies and self identity while also rocking out. I photographed broken glass to emphasize how these music groups smashed standards. All of the words look like they are breaking through the glass just like all of these groups changed the music industry.

Process by hand
Throughout this poster series I continued to experiment with colors and placement of type. It was interesting to change the size of the words and see the contrast between information on the foreground and background.
I smashed broken glass and carefully and thoughtfully placed the broken glass on a solid background. I photographed it to retrieve the right angles and placement. I had to make sure the lightening was hitting correctly and wasn’t going to be too distracting. I also spent a lot of time sketching different iterations of the poster.
